Ode to an avocado

The way you just

sit there promising

omega 3s and vitamin

D but just not

quite soft enough

then, suddenly, taken

by a whim you

have surrendered, life

has proved too much.

Turned against me,

crackly skinned. Brown,

and striped on the inside.

The audacity.
